It’s fall, y’all! And that means it’s time for some of my favorite fall traditions: pumpkin everything, scarves and leggings, cooler weather, and walking in the forest to see the leaves change color. We’re going to decorate pumpkins later this week and I CAN’T WAIT.
Almost every year since I’ve lived in Strasbourg we’ve driven up to the village Reichshoffen to see the leaves change color. There’s a gorgeous lake surrounded by a path and a forest. The lake is normally calm enough to have a perfect reflection of the tree tops. It’s an impressive view!
Hubs and I were so excited to go this year because Andrew’s a little more active and could walk around with us. He really only wanted to walk through the grass and didn’t actually care about the leaves. Still a win in my book! Of course I pulled out my favorite Ergobaby carrier when he got tired.
The village is a little bit of a drive from Strasbourg, but it’s absolutely worth a visit. The walk around the lake takes less than an hour, but the more intense hikers can easily spend hours walking through the forest. There are even some “trim trail” paths that have signs and some workout equipment along several stops.
We had a blast spending the day out in the fresh air and getting Andrew to practice walking. I’m so happy that we live in an area where there are gorgeous places like this right around the corner. I’m already looking forward to next year when Andrew might even be able to walk the whole time!
What are some of your fall traditions? Where are your favorite places to go to get some fresh air? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!
